A Little History of Jewels on Ninth
How did we get started? Jewels on Ninth opened in 1993 but our story actually dates back to 1988 when owners Heather and Brian Masich got engaged Christmas eve on Burnaby mountain. Heather proposed to Brian, and it’s something they laugh about now since Brian had a custom ring and proposal planned for the very next day. “I kind of stole his thunder,” says Heather.
Needless to say, the answer was yes, and for the next five years, Heather and Brian worked as a husband and wife team, running several family-owned jewellery stores in Vancouver.
After starting their family, Heather and Brian decided it was time to pack up their children, Brendan and Victoria and leave the big city behind. Attracted by the outdoor-oriented lifestyle and Brian's birth place (Kimberley) they moved to The Kootenays and so began Jewels on Ninth.
Small Town Charm, Large City Selection
Since then, Heather and Brian have had the pleasure of seeing their customers get engaged, married and have kids of their own. They’ve been able to share in the joy of celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and other special events.
With the help of their staff, Heather and Brian Masich have created a business where people can and do stop in just to have a friendly chat.
