There ain’t no mountain high enough…
Wayne King clearly takes the old (Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell) love song seriously. He popped the question to his now fiancé, Krista Smith, at an elevation of almost 3000 metres—that’s the highest mountain peak visible from their home. Teepee Mountain, just outside our town of Cranbrook, will always be extra special to this happy couple.
“Wayne surprised me with a helicopter ride that landed on Teepee Mountain,” said Krista. “We walked from the chopper through the snow (in mesh sneakers!) to a place where we could enjoy the beautiful view.”
Snow swept Rocky Mountains and a one true love definitely make for a fantastic view—and we aren’t even at the part with the ring. “It was there that he told me how much he loves me, and asked me to marry him!” November 5, 2016, is the day that Wayne elevated their romance with the perfect mountain peak proposal.
Wayne being a great fiancé and father tried to bring their kids along for the ride. Funnily enough, the helicopter in question didn’t like the extra bodies on board. The kids waited on ground zero while mom and dad enjoyed their snowy proposal. They still served as a great welcoming committee when the newly engaged couple returned to solid ground.
The ring, which Wayne found at Jewels on Ninth, was custom made to fit his beautiful fiancé. “It is a custom ring with Emeralds on either side of a black diamond,” said Krista. A trinity style white gold band with two bezel set black diamonds and thirty-six round cut diamonds complete the exquisite, one-of-a-kind look.
